Products for Shingles

Shingles is the name commonly used for herpes zoster, an infection that causes a painful skin rash with blisters, usually on part of one side of the body (left or right), and often in a strip. Shingles is caused by the varicella zoster virus.

People with shingles often experience pain, tingling or itching and then a painful rash. The rash consists of groups of small, fluid-filled blisters that dry, scab over, and heal (like chickenpox) in a few weeks. At that stage, the healing is usually complete, but some people may be left with scars.

The most at-risk group for getting shingles are people older than 50 or have a weakened immune system, although any person who has had chickenpox can get shingles. The infection can live dormant and reactivate again due to mounting age, stress, lowered immunity, infection, medical treatments or medications that suppress the immune system.

Be aware of the symptoms and signs that indicate a shingles outbreak and if you’re unsure, call your health care practitioner right away. The earlier you begin treatment for shingles, the fewer the symptoms and the shorter the duration of this painful condition. Vaccines can help reduce the risk of shingles and your doctor is the one to determine if it is right for you. Your doctor will have treatment suggestions as well.

NeoGenesis Products for Shingles

At the first possible sign of an outbreak, wash the area with our gentle Cleanser. Apply Moisturizing Mist followed by our most advanced product, NeoGenesis Recovery, abundant in S²RM® molecules to help support the skin during a shingles eruption. Recovery serum may aid in reducing pain and irritation.

Recovery may be used up to four times a day during the initial stages of the outbreak, along with MB-1. Because shingles symptoms commonly last for 7 to 10 days, continue the use of Recovery and MB-1 at least twice a day in the area of the rash for a full 10 days.  The healing process will continue, even if the rash improves immediately.

After the 10 days, if the areas of the outbreak are clear, add Barrier Renewal Cream or Body Cream to soothe, hydrate and support the damaged skin barrier. After adding in Barrier Renewal Cream or Body Cream, complete the routine by spraying MB-1 over the affected area.

If you experience long-term nerve-related pain from a shingles outbreak, people have reported the continued use of Recovery twice a day helps to calm the area.
