What is Rosacea? Caring for Rosacea-Prone Skin

Rosacea is a common chronic skin condition that affects millions of people worldwide. Rosacea should be diagnosed first in order to be treated properly. If you’ve ever struggled with rosacea, you may understand not only the irritating, uncomfortable symptoms but also the struggle of common misdiagnosis. That’s why it is crucial to seek professional skincare support from an expert.

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is typically associated with very sensitive, reactive skin, and if confused with acne, harsh treatments may only worsen the condition. Rosacea is believed to be hereditary but also has significant environmental triggers including sun, stress, alcohol, acidic foods, and weather conditions. 90% of people with Rosacea say that it lowers their confidence and self-esteem. We want to help change that!

The NeoGenesis core technology is a gentle approach to strengthening the skin. We take our queue from Mother Nature herself to offer a safe, healthy approach to caring for rosacea-prone skin.

Identifying Rosacea

First things first – we have to identify the true condition. Rosacea is commonly mistaken for acne, but the treatments are not the same so it’s important to be sure what’s really going on. Rosacea typically presents as redness or flushing of the cheeks, but can also show up as irritated, inflamed skin on the nose, chin, and forehead.  If left untreated, bumps and pimples do tend to develop, and in severe  cases (mostly in men) the nose may swell and even get bumpy.

Early detection is truly key to effectively treating rosacea. We don’t want to make the skin that’s already reactive, even more irritated by further breaking down your barrier. Also, if detected early enough, NeoGenesis can provide you with the right barrier-strengthening skincare to help prevent the condition from intensifying.

So what do you do if you already know you’re dealing with rosacea? The fact of the matter is this is an inflammatory issue showing up on the skin with an already weakened barrier. While there is no cure for this hereditary skin condition, it is treatable! Here are a few tips on how to avoid flare-ups, and how to treat them if they do pop up.

TIP #1 – Avoid common triggers!

We know, it’s not the most fun, but avoiding things like prolonged exposure to the sun and wind, alcohol, spicy foods, and even certain fruits and veggies high in acidity, like tomatoes and citrus fruits, can help you prevent flares.

Even when it comes to working out, the less stress, the better. Instead of high-intensity workouts where those blood vessels are going to open up and invite potential inflammation, try moderate alternatives like walking, swimming, or yoga.

TIP #2 – Topical Application of Stem Cell Released Molecules

The S²RM technology, exclusive to NeoGenesis, is a breakthrough in calming and soothing rosacea. We use multiple skin-resident stem cell types to harness your body’s natural regenerative power. The power is in the molecules, not the stem cells themselves. There is no DNA in the molecules these stem cells release, but all the naturally present lipids, antioxidants, and growth factors your body produces to remedy the skin. Our technology simply returns to the skin what was there when it was young and healthy.

Caring for Rosacea-Prone Skin

To start, prep your skin by gently cleansing it with NeoGenesis Cleanser. This is a non-irritating, sulfate-free cleansing option that doesn’t strip your skin of the natural oils and lipids it needs to maintain a healthy barrier.

While the skin is still slightly damp, apply Booster. This serum is 40% active with the S²RM technology and includes beneficial hydration perfect for rosacea. Use it on your face, eye area, and decollete.

Then, use one pump of Eye Serum and pat around both eyes. We recommend using your ring finger, as it typically applies the least amount of pressure to that sensitive area.

Then, hydrate with your choice of either the Light Moisturizer or Intensive Moisturizer. Use the Light Moisturizer if you have oily skin or if you live in a humid climate. Use the Intensive Moisturizer if you have normal to dry skin or live in a dry or cold climate.

Complete your regimen with a thin layer of Barrier Renewal Cream which locks in all the lipids, hydration, cholesterol, free fatty acids, and ceramides to help restore a healthy barrier. During the day don’t forget your chemical-free SPF!

Like many skin conditions, solutions can vary from person to person depending on skin type, climate, hormones, and lifestyle.
