“I have been using the NeoGenesis product, Recovery, for a chemical burn and side effects from radiation. Prior to radiation (in late July), I had a plastic surgeon remove the scar tissue in my breast resulting from a lumpectomy. Unfortunately, I simultaneously opted to include an elective procedure of a laser and chemical peel, which resulted in severe blistering and burning. Recovery truly helped me and relieved my discomfort. At this time there is almost no scarring. In mid-August, I started radiation. I used Recovery daily and surprised all of the technologists and doctors (especially since I have Lupus), as I did not peel, blister, or scar. My skin darkened for a week or two, and that has also dissipated. I am still using Recovery to help with the darkness from radiation. Your product Recovery saved the day. I hope other cancer patients have the opportunity to use your stem cell molecule skincare products to save their skin.” – Denise W.

RADIATION SIDE EFFECTS

One of the most well-known side effects of radiation therapy is skin damage. As radiation targets cancer cells, it also affects healthy cells in the surrounding area. This can lead to skin irritation, dryness, and changes in pigmentation. In some cases, patients may also develop blisters or open wounds on their skin. These side effects are usually temporary and will improve once treatment is completed, but in some cases they may be long-term or permanent.

One of the most noticeable side effects is dryness and itching of the skin. As radiation damages oil glands in the skin, it becomes less able to retain moisture, resulting in dry, itchy, and flaky skin. This can be uncomfortable and may also cause a burning sensation.

Radiation therapy can also cause changes in the pigmentation of the skin, leading to areas of darker or lighter skin. This is known as hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, respectively. These changes may be temporary or permanent and can affect the overall appearance of the skin.

Another common side effect is redness or inflammation of the skin, known as radiation dermatitis. This can range from mild to severe and may include symptoms such as swelling, tenderness, and peeling of the skin. In more severe cases, blisters or open sores may develop.

NeoGenesis offers a range of oncology friendly products designed to soothe, strengthen and support the skin while undergoing radiation therapy.
